According to Al Jazeera, Sahim has gained a considerable reputation for himself and his voice has reached the largest mosques in and outside the country from a local gathering in the province of Mesila, about 240 kilometers south of the Algerian capital.
His recitation for thousands of people, through Taraweeh prayers and social networks, in which humility is combined with magnificence in the voice, is a familiar recitation, and he leaves a mark on listeners with every verse he recites.
Abdelaziz Sahim was born on February 12, 1996, in the Algerian province of Mesila, known for its Maktabs (traditional Quranic schools), and from an early age was not far from the atmosphere of the Quran.
Growing up in Bayt al-Quran
He grew up in a home that his relatives call “Bayt al-Quran: the House of the Quran,” where his father was the first teacher and imam who insisted that his son’s first steps should be towards the mosque.
The five-year-old began his journey by memorizing the Quran on a tablet and with a pen, a traditional and meticulous practice that from the very beginning shaped the characteristics of a skilled reciter.
His talent blossomed quickly and he was often asked to recite the Quran on special occasions at his primary school. At the age of seven, on a Night of Qadr, he faced his first real test in front of a congregation of worshippers, an early moment that dispelled his stage fright and strengthened his confidence in his voice.
A favorite reciter of the youth
Sahim has a comprehensive and multifaceted voice that combines the authenticity of the early masters with a youthful and modern performance, making him a bridge connecting the younger generation to the beauty of traditional and authentic recitation.

He has a remarkable ability to move between the soft and melodic “Qarar” (the bass line) and the powerful “Jawab” (the lower line) in the recitation positions. The lower notes convey a sense of calm and stillness, while the higher notes add clarity and power without violence, resulting in a recitation that is pleasing to the ear in different positions.
Visualizing Meanings of the Quran
One of his most outstanding features is what is known as the sonic visualization of meanings. Sahim does not simply recite loudly, but uses the tone of his voice to visualize the context of the verses; in the verses of the stories, he tends to an exciting narrative style; In the verses of hope and paradise, his voice soars with calmness; and in the verses of warning, his tone is imbued with awe and dignity.
He also combines the Egyptian and the Algerian schools of recitation, benefiting from the mastery of the maqams and long breaths of the golden generation of Egyptian reciters, especially Abdul Basit Abdul Samad and Mohamed Sidiq Minshawi. While maintaining calm, he pays attention to the dignity of the Algerian school and is committed to reciting according to the narration of Warsh, which gives his recitation an authentic Maghrebi character.
Despite the beauty of the voice, the discipline of Tajweed remains the main cornerstone of his recitations, he does not sacrifice the expense of letters and tension for the sake of tone, which is due to his careful upbringing in the "House of the Quran" and memorizing the Quran in the presence of his father.
Earning the title of “Taj al-Quran”
Sahim’s presence in the scene was reinforced by a series of national honors, most notably the title of “Taj al-Quran Karim” in 2022, and he became one of the most prominent Quran reciters in Algeria.
